Personal Financial Spreadsheet (PFS) companion for the Practical Guide to Personal Financial Awareness book
Download the PFS file and save it to your laptop or other Web-enabled device. The default location is usually the Downloads folder, and the template filename is the one listed above the Download button at the bottom of this page. You can open the file and save it with your initials appended to the filename for use with exercises in the book, thus creating a backup copy. Current versions of Windows, Mac OS, Microsoft 365 (Office) Excel, and most popular browsers are supported. The PFS can be downloaded and viewed with most mobile devices but you may have limited editing capabilities. The default with some devices is to "View" the file. You can download the file as well by selecting "Open in Default Browser" from the menu. The PFS Excel file is read-only and the process for downloading and saving it will vary depending on the device and app used. When you open the file you will typically have to click the "Enable Editing" button in order to save the file under a different name and allow you to make changes to the spreadsheet when entering your financial data. Each sheet in the file is password-protected and the password is shown on the PFS Cover sheet. There are usually multiple ways to handle downloaded files. You should follow the steps for your device.
Note: The first seven sheets of the PFS after the cover sheet are for reference only and are populated with sample data that is protected. The seven sheets that follow the reference forms are data entry forms and are your workbook sheets for use with book exercises. Additional information is provided in the Personal Financial Awareness book exercises and the Cover sheet of the PFS.
